Boston, MA

Early Saturday morning MLB commissioner Rob Manfred handed down a harsh 80 game suspension on Boston Red Sox star Hanley Ramirez after Ramirez tested positive for performance enhancing substances during a routine urine screen. Ramirez is one of Boston’s key players, hitting .257 this year with 16 RBI’s. The Red Sox’s first baseman was discovered to have large amounts of androstenedione present in his urine Friday night after a routine urine screen. So far there has been no comment made by either the Red Sox front office or the Ramirez camp. Second baseman Dustin Pedroia did make a brief statement on Saturday, ” Manny is great guy and a great player. I’m shocked and disappointed that he would be involved in this.”
Ramirez has been playing for Boston since 2015 since being acquired from the Dodgers. Check with WFLA for updates on this breaking story.
